Wessex Club PG XC League
International PG 2020 - xcleague.com
2020 will be recorded in history as the year that the worldwide COVID 19 Coronavirus pandemic took hold. The UK entered a national lockdown in mid March that restricted many activities and halted cross country (XC) flying. As lockdown conditions eased then flying was able to resume. The National XC league, which hosts the Wessex XC league entries and checks for airspace infringements, only reopened to accept flights late July.
The loss of much of the prime XC flying season greatly diminished the 2020 Wessex PG XC league. Some good flights were made prior to the XC league reopening, including a new triangle record from Bell Hill by Grant Oseland. For fairness only flights actually entered in the league are considered for the results below. Robin Wallace entered the most flights this year but unfortunately just missed out on winning the XC league due to the rule that ‘only one coastal or ridge run flight (the best) from each site submitted will be allowed’ (see Rules).
