Report from Ringstead

A murky start to the day, and the mist stayed most of the day. It did allow aviation and occasionally lifted "a bit".
Several were deterred but more took to the skies keeping a sharp look out.
Visitors from Avon and elsewhere and some Wessex seen flying over Charmouth.

Report from Jurassic Coast

A report came in from Ringstead to say 24mph+. So decided to join Roy and a few others further West.
Wings in the air on arrival and a beach launch was necessary for me.
I followed Tim and Mark towards Charmouth but saw Mark turn back at Thorncombe Beacon and Tim on his Zeno cruising past Golden Cap at altitude. I then heard the trump trump of a Chinnook Helicopter only to see it about 40' amsl and I was up at 600' amsl, so no issues, but he did fly along Hive Beach soooo low.
I also turned at Thorncombe Beacon and felt I was into wind on the way back. Mark was pinned above West bay and sensibly beach landed there.
I opted to gain height above Eype and make a dash on bar. It was butt clenching as I was about 6' above the beach when I connected with the cliff, phew, home free.
A reminder from Andrew at Flying Frenzy, you need to ask his permission to fly Hive Cliff contact him on +44 7990 505725

Report from Ringstead

What a variable day on the coast at Ringstead. Alan & Tom first away to Durdle Door and back in a stiff breeze coming back below the orographic. I followed Tim from Avon on his Zeno and had a beautiful flight down to Lulworth with the orographic providing plenty of lift in front. Tim ventured across the Cove and I turned to head back as I felt a sea change.
It was "full bar" and laid horizontal to make headway, just sneaking round the White Nothe under the cloud. Easier progress back to T.O. with Big Ears and down safe with Dale. Tim had got rained on and landed at West Lulworth.
Home for lunch and a return to the ridge to be soaring in bubbles of thermals, only Grant and Alex C making Gadd Cliff on their hot ships, 3 others landed on the beach at Ringstead. It was then a game of Dodgems on the ridge in a S if not SSE wind with Pilots waiting patiently for the promised change of direction. I had a call at 1930 to hear Pilots good and high on the cliffs.Guest appearance by Seb L on the Gin GTO.

Report from WhiteHorse

A thankyou to Jason for confirming it was flyable.
Another flight around the valley and at times gaining good height, the mist did stay away but kept a lookout on the very large overdeveloped clouds inland and creeping ever closer. Good to see Richard F helping out some LATs.
A large number again, 22 Pilots today.
One issue, the owner of a Blue VW Polo parked halfway down the track which meant the farm vehicles would not be able to pass. Please read the Site Guide.
Positive note a great day at the Horse.

Report from WhiteHorse

A good start to the day at the Horse, one in the air as we walked the track, also surprised someone had managed to drive to the Y junction, there are some serious ruts and lots of metal debris along the track and more hidden in the grass.
It was thermic all day with a few short periods of time for eating and drinking.
More than 20 Pilots there today, not seen that for a while, flying was continued after I left at 1645hrs.
Great to see Dr Andy back in the air and accompanied by Dr George, well deserved after all the work they have been doing to keep everyone safe.

Report from WhiteHorse

Met up with Elvijs and walked to the Horse. Couple waiting for the wind to pick up.
It was SE - SSE and within 10mins it became flyable with thermals allowing the low cloud base to be explored and then out over the valley. I had a call to say it had come on at Ringstead and that 2 were on the cliffs. Having already anticipated a Coast Run, we made our way to Ringers. The wind sock showed SE not the direction for Ringers and I counted 48 Pilots and hundreds of tourists. The 2 on the cliffs had managed to get to Durdle Door and back for a bottom landing. So no flying as it was light and off. We then saw some more at Horse but decided on a cuppa at home only to sit in the garden and watch some good flying at the Horse. Reports in from Southbourne, Ballard, Barton, Knitson and Beer.

Report from Ringstead

A glorious Coastal day with a number of Avon Members joining the happy throng.
Congratulations to Jules Mark & Jakub on their maiden Cliff flights.
I counted 20 wings in the air at one time although there were many hundreds of Tourists parking all over the place.
It picked up for a while and then settled back down again with Elvijs gaining great height.
Lots of Cruise Liners still anchored in Weymouth Bay.
