Report from Ringstead
New Member Eduardo had his maiden flight to the cliffs. Angus providing Tandem rides. All in all an excellent Coastal day.
Some complaints from Pilots about doing low wingovers at cliff edge , please be aware of other Pilots and do your wingovers over the sea where you don't get in the way of Pilots transiting the cliffs.

Went to Bell to watch some people scratching about, gave up and went jumping off things instead. 3pm saw me in the air, alone, at St Aldhelm's with a big sea breeze front behind the hill.
Unbelievably buoyant and eventually got further out to sea than I've ever done in 20 years, then flew back and ended up landing at the square and compass for a pint.
Still flyable when I left but it's no fun if it's too easy.

I went up after lunch and it was still too light and Westerly. However Reports were in from Kimmeridge and St A's to say "Flyable". It then moved WSW and became good and lofty although a strong element of West in the wind. It did allow 6 of us to enjoy good height on the cliffs, before it eventually became too strong and again too West.. New Member Eduardo arrived just too late.

A quick launch in stiff and lifty conditions. Playing on the edge and under the low cloud, ensuring location of the other 6 on the cliffs.
Landed after an hour to hydrate and off again to play. A few others arrived so landed to help repack a reserve and repair a line, worthwhile as Seb managed a partial Run to Weymouth and back.
Conditions strengthened and it started to lightly drizzle, landed and off home to dry wing.

Decided on an early start to test conditions, arrived 0915hrs to see 2 on the cliffs already, eager or what? Visitor had been there since 0800hrs and the crowds built throughout the day I saw at least 30 Pilots at one stage.
Tested the cliffs and it slowly started to come round more SSW, I had sneaked around several times to test it and then it just switched on at one time there was some low cloud to help with the lift. Always try to remember to check the true direction by turning back to test penetration. Several Pilots had there first sojourn down to Lulworth and back a couple of the more adventurous made Kimmeridge, one by his own admission with 'butt clenching lowness and squeakiness'.
A day of drama at one point with a retrieve from the bushes. All in all a good flying experience a close to the day with a flight at Whitehorse.

It was pretty much West but some thermals moving through so I spent 30 mins working some height above the ridge I transited to Point A, but thought better of further saunter, so back to T.O. Gradual improvement and then the world and his wife arrived and of course the hordes of Grockles wanting to watch the Cruise Liners at anchor, 'Whatever floats your boat'. Angus worked hard all afternoon providing Tandem rides and many more enjoyed their time soaring to some good height. A word of caution, Please return to T.O. from Point A, unless you have very good height and know how to use your speed bar. The trees behind Holworth House are 80'+ and the scrubby field has 2 lots of live cables crossing it. Beware!

Report from St Aldhelms & Ringstead
Arrived at 0915 to see 2 aloft. And then a third appeared. I choose to get near the lowest part of a Take Off area as I was reading 20mph with an occasional 18mph lull. Clean launch and up and away. Robin, persistent in his approaches to Houns Tout, finally connecting and encouraging me so it was off to the other side of the Tout after 2 attempts and onwards and upwards. Another arrived and made it up so it was a case of changing places to keep 4 on the cliffs. Robin even sneaking around Coastguard for a look towards Swanage. Eventful with Angus and his apprentice practising some manoeuvres. Landed and off to Scott Arms for lunch to receive a message that Ringstead was flyable.
Should we resist, why no! Of course not. It was 20mph + on T.O. but no one was perturbed and it was off to the cliffs to play with some orographic and to enjoy even more airtime. Lovely bubbly, as they say.

The two Pauls made it over to Hounds Tout and back but I didn't feel I had enough height for that today.
Great day out with some fine wessex pilots, happy days.

Report from Whitehorse
So another unexpected turn of events.
A great afternoon of thermalling at the Horse with all and sundry. Welcome to Kevin K on his first visit to the Horse , post CP.
Newly named, Terry "Follow Me" W leading an unsuspecting Rene B to an awkward encounter with a pesky tree.
A good day to practise thermalling and etiquette in the sky.
